Refreshers Fair
Next Tuesday (31st January) the will be a gusa refreshers fair happening as part of the sport and wellbeing week.
Its running from 1.30pm until 5 pm in the activity hall in the stevie. It seems that some lessons have been learnt from last years one so I'm confident that this will be worthwhile for us.
We can start setting up from 1pm, so I'm looking for volunteers to help out from then and throughout the afternoon. (I'm also looking for whoever has the poster and flyers etc from freshers week)
Please post up if you can help, even if its just for a short amount of time

Hoody design!
Hello ladies and gentlemen
I hope you've all had a splendid new year!
For those that don't know every year we run a design competition for the back for the GUSA jumper and we have decided that this years winner will be the design we use forever to have more continuity in our logo.
This years options include the ones entered this year and also the winners over the past few years too, so choose wisely!
The poll will run for a week and after that I'll be taking orders for clothing, if anyone else wants to order stuff with the canoe club name on it the full list of what you can get is inside the gym door on the wall to the right!
There are 7 potions all together, the first are attached(I think, not very good with technology) and the last option is to just have the name CANOE in bold capitals across the back!
xoxo
EDIT
A couple of other Hoodie desings have been located and can now be voted for. I can't download them, so can only provide the link. The numbers next to them are the number they correspond to on the poll.

Although there are others there, they require more colours than we can provide access to on the GUSA hoodies.

Pool Session Tonight Cancelled
Hello all,
Unfortunately the stevie, like the whole university, is closed due to wind. This sadly means there will no pool session tonight. There will not be another pool session untill January because next week is the christmas night out.
Harry
P.S. I think the hive may still be open though, so if anyone doesn't have/doesn't care about exams maybe post up here and see if folk want to meet in the beer bar?

Hoody design!
Hello all you lovely lads and lassies of GUCC!
In the spirit of Christmas, I bring good news and joy to one and all!
Every year we give all of you beloved members an opportunity to showcase your artistic/computer abilities and run a competition where you can design the logo for the club which will appear on the back of the hoody and which usually changes every year, however this year we have decided to pick the best of the best and have this one for keeps.
And as an added bonus, you WIN A FREE HOODY IF YOUR DESIGN IS CHOSEN.
So if all those who are brave enough to take on this challenge please e-mail me(breffnioconnor@yahoo.co.uk) their designs by next Friday, December 9th, than you may be in with the chance of winning this most sought after prize!
I will then be taking orders for hoodies next semester so we can all be lookin' super fly in no time!
Remember that the design needs to be simple and can only be printed in gold.
Breffni
xoxo

BUCS Wild Water Racing
MORNING!
This event will be taking place on the weekend of the 26th- 27th November. And is suitable for old and new members including freshers who haven't done a huge amount! Its a very fun event and we now have a reputation to OWN the fancy dress party on the Saturday night. Im sure Gregor and Ben will agree!
Wild water racing is when you race down a bit of river, usually grade 2ish so nothing overly taxing - especially when you can look at the course before you fire down. You can do it in any boat you choose - so a nice big comfy creek boat or like last year (if we manage to get a hold of a few boats) a proper racing boat.
There are two courses a long one (about 10mins worth) and a sprint (about 1.5mins) both are set up like a time trial so you won't be starting at the same time as anyone, so will feel like your just racing the clock! There are also some team events so a group of you will head off at the same time and the time is for the last person in the team to cross the line - it looked a like a lot of fun last year! You don't have to enter all of the events, but the more you enter the more paddling you get (obviously!)
We will be camping and eating with the other uni's at a campsite somewhere near the course it will probably be cold so wrap up warm! (if you don't wrap up warm and your wearing nothing but a grass skirt you will be allowed to sit in the car with the heaters on until your suitable fuelled for the party)
The entries don't need to be in until the 4th of November so theres time to have a think about what events you might be interested in!
Its not a hugely competitive event, if you want to go fast - go fast! but if not there will be plenty of people just floating down enjoying the atmosphere!

Do it!
